About the Cattery
Cheeky Cattery is a small home-based cattery in Southern California. My cats roam and follow me around the house as my companions, never caged. All my cats are fed top quality human-grade raw food and are routinely seen by my local vet. Our day to day lives are often shown on our Instagram stories, where regular updates of our kittens are uploaded.
My aim is to raise beautiful golden British Shorthairs according to breed standards with the best temperaments. Studies show that a cat’s personality is both nature and nurture. All of my cats have exceptional characters, which our kittens inherit as well. By socializing our kittens with young children, strangers, other cats, and the outdoors, I am certain our kittens will be wonderful and affectionate companions.
About the Breeder
Cheeky Cats was founded by me, Seika, the owner of Maple Cat, back in 2019. Thanks to Maple’s affectionate and loving nature, I fell in love with the British shorthair breed. I spent countless hours in my spare time researching about cat genetics, looking at multiple pedigrees, identifying cattery bloodlines and traits, learning about feline behavior, and researching different genetic diseases.
After consulting many breeders, journals, and books, I took Maple to his first cat show where he won Championship title. Along the way, I found many challenges and difficulties finding a reputable and transparent breeder of golden British Shorthairs in the US. It was from then on that I felt inspired to raise my own kittens as a responsible breeder. The decision to start a cattery was a deliberate vow to raise the standard on ethical cat breeding while raising the most wonderful companions.
Core Values
Transparency
I strongly believe that an ethical breeder is always transparent and honest. Cheeky Cattery is a TICA licensed cattery. My pedigreed and registered cats come from champion European lines I have thoroughly studied. To ensure my cats are of breed standard and quality, we participate in cat shows. Additionally, all genetic tests for diseases are available by request and are routinely done prior to breeding. I care a lot about establishing great relationships with my future kitten owners. I am always happy to share any knowledge about the British shorthair breed, care, and genetics with you.
Health
Health is the first priority for Cheeky Cattery. I know all of our cats’ bloodlines, traits, and genetic histories. All of our cats have tested negative for all known British shorthair genetic issues including PKD, PK, FeLV, and HCM. I guarantee that my kittens are free of any life threatening congenital diseases for one year. As an ethical breeder, I believe in breeding for health and would never inbreed close generations for the sake of appearance. My kittens are vet checked, dewormed, and vaccinated prior to traveling to their homes.
Quality Care
I take pride in providing my cats the best of care. My cats roam our homes freely in a loving environment. They are raw-fed with human raw grade meat or premium quality dry food and regularly check by our local certified vet. My cats are clicked trained and taught positive reinforcement to encourage good household behaviors. I also make sure that our home environments are cleaned with cat-safe cleaners. Most importantly, my greatest goal is to make sure my kittens go to the best homes. My care for my kittens extends to their new families as I provide life-long support to their owners.
